Every household knows the feeling. Six boxes of sweets on the table by the second day, and not one of them opened.
Diwali gifting has a quiet problem. The gifts are generous, they're well meant — and a great many of them are quietly passed on, or left until they go stale. Sweets arrive in quantities nobody can finish. Dry-fruit boxes get re-gifted without ever being opened.
Fresh fruit is one of the few things that reliably gets eaten.
Why fruit works as a Diwali gift
- It gets used. A box of apples disappears in a week. Nobody re-gifts fruit.
- It suits everyone. Diabetic relatives, health-conscious colleagues, elderly parents, small children — fruit works where a box of mithai doesn't.
- It crosses every line. No dietary restriction, no religious consideration, no guessing at preferences.
- It isn't the obvious choice. Which is precisely why it's remembered.
Diwali 2026 falls in the best fruit week of the year
This is the part that makes the timing unusually good. Diwali is on 8 November 2026 — and late October into early November is exactly when our hillsides are at their most interesting.
Granny Smith, Fuji, persimmon and pomegranate are all at or near their peak. Fruit picked in that window hasn't been near a cold store. It was on a tree days before it reached the table.
What's in season for Diwali
Granny Smith
Sharp, green and firm. The one that lasts longest in a bowl, and the only apple that survives being baked. Perfect if the household cooks.
Fuji
The sweetest apple we grow, and the best keeper. A safe choice when you don't know the recipient's taste — almost nobody dislikes it.
Persimmon
Bright orange, honey-sweet, and unusual enough to feel like a proper gift rather than a routine one. Arrives firm and ripens on their counter.
Pomegranate
Deep ruby arils and rich juice. Traditional, festive, and the colour suits the season.
When to order
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Now – mid October | Book your harvest week. The good weeks fill first, and booking early gives you room if weather shifts a picking. |
| By 27 October | Last comfortable date to order for Diwali on 8 November. Allows picking, packing and four to seven days in transit. |
| Late October | We pick, pack and dispatch. You get a message when the box leaves the hills. |
| Early November | Boxes arrive. Fruit picked days earlier, not months. |
Don't leave it to the last week
We pick to order, so a box needs harvest time plus four to seven days in transit. Order by 27 October for comfortable Diwali delivery. Courier networks also run slower and heavier through the festival fortnight, so earlier is genuinely safer.
Sending it to someone else
Most Diwali orders go to a different address from the buyer's. Enter the recipient's address at checkout, or send it to us on WhatsApp — whichever is easier.
Every box travels with a card, and we'll write it to whoever you're sending it to. Just tell us the name and what you'd like it to say.
For offices
Corporate Diwali gifting has shifted noticeably. A lot of companies have moved away from sweets — partly for health, partly because a mithai box is the same gift every employee already received from four other people.
Fruit works across an entire office without anyone having to check dietary requirements. For bulk orders, message us directly and we'll work out quantities, addresses and timing with you.
What you're actually sending
We're a farming family in Pujarli, Upper Shimla. We don't hold stock in cold storage — fruit is picked in the harvest week you choose and dispatched within 24 hours.
So the box that arrives isn't warehouse fruit in festival packaging. It's fruit that was on a tree the same week it reached someone's door — which is a rarer thing to receive at Diwali than another box of laddoos.
Common questions
What is a good fruit gift for Diwali?
A box of fresh seasonal fruit — ideally something picked recently rather than held in storage. Late October and early November fall in the Granny Smith, Fuji and persimmon season in Himachal, so all three are at their best exactly when Diwali arrives.
Is fruit a good Diwali gift?
It's one of the few gifts that gets used. Sweets often arrive in quantities nobody can finish, and dry-fruit boxes get passed along unopened. Fresh fruit is welcome in almost every household, suits people avoiding sugar, and doesn't sit in a cupboard.
When should I order Diwali fruit gifts?
Order by late October for Diwali on 8 November 2026. Fruit needs picking time plus four to seven days in transit, so leaving it to the final week is risky. Earlier is safer, and the best harvest weeks fill up first.
Can you deliver Diwali gifts to a different address?
Yes. Tell us the recipient's address at checkout or send it on WhatsApp, and we'll ship directly to them. Message us if you'd like a note included.
What fruit is in season during Diwali in India?
For Diwali in late October or early November: Granny Smith, Fuji, persimmon and pomegranate are all at or near their peak in Himachal. Royal Delicious and Golden are finishing by then.
Is fruit an appropriate corporate Diwali gift?
Increasingly it's the preferred one. Many companies now avoid sweets for dietary and health reasons, and fruit works across every diet and religion in an office. For bulk orders, message us and we'll arrange it.
How long will the fruit stay fresh?
Two to three weeks in a cool, dark place, longer in a fridge. Fuji and Granny Smith keep longest, which makes them well suited to gifting when you can't be sure exactly when the box will be opened.
Do you add a message or card?
Yes. Every box travels with a card you can have addressed to the recipient. Send us the name and message on WhatsApp when you order.
